Born in Athens, Georgia, Karen graduated from the University
of Georgia (B.F.A. 1986) and Georgia State University College of Law (J.D.
1995). She is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and in Maine. She
currently lives in Cumberland, Maine with her husband and three children. While
taking a break from the practice of law to raise children, Karen was drawn to
stand-up comedy. Much of her material is derived from her experience as a
parent, a trial attorney, and from being a Southerner living in Maine.
Apart from numerous live stand-up appearances, Karen also appeared in many
television and Radio shows in Portland and Athens.
Chosen from over 1000 entries, Karen was one of seven finalists who traveled to
New York to tape Nick at Nite's Search for the Funniest Mom in America, 2005
television special for Nickelodeon. She was also a semifinalist for 2006 and a
finalist in Portland's Funniest Professional in 2004.
