 Murray has exploded onto the entertainment scene with the
charisma, personality, and talent of a natural born star! You can't miss him
with his electric blonde hair, signature 'blue' suit, and his contagious smile.
He is the only one in the world with a Compact Disc Act. His signature 'CD FX'
act, where he manipulates 100's of Compact Discs with precise accuracy has taken
him around the world. His grand stage illusions are also among the most creative
in the world today.
He started magic at age 10, at 15 became professional, at 20 he became
international, and at age 25 was recognized as a driving force in moving magic
into the next millennium, with his modern edge and creative style. This is how
it all happened. Murray John Sawchuk, was born in Vancouver, Canada. This only
child started in the business at the tender age of five, learning how to play
the accordion. Later in years, he would learn to play the saxophone and
keyboard. Then at age seven started with dance lessons but not the dance lessons
you might expect to ever hear of. He took up Ukrainian dancing with a one-hour
warm-up of ballet, before every lesson. Later he took up Swing dancing.
His parents involved him in everything they could from soccer to baseball - snow
skiing to horseback riding. He was swimming and golfing at the age of three.
Educationally they would put him in anything he wanted to learn! At 10 years
old, from his parents, Murray got a 4 trick Siegfried & Roy magic kit from Reno,
Nevada, that lasted on and off for a while. It was on his 13th birthday that he
received an AM/PM Houdini Magic kit from a department store from his Uncle and
Aunt that would change his life forever. Later that year he would join The
Vancouver Magic Circle and meet a gentleman named Shawn Farquhar.
Shawn taught Murray a lot of sleight of hand techniques and how to practice and
get ready for the big shows. When Murray was 16, he met Marvyn and Carol Roy
a.k.a. Mr. Electric. They've worked with Murray over the last 10 years, becoming
his mentors and turning him into an international star! Murray has won 20 awards
in the last 10 years titling him an international champion. He has performed all
over the globe to almost every nationality possible. Whether they speak English
or not. The great thing about Murray's show is that he uses a large variety of
music in his show that crosses the boundaries of language.
