KAWEH - (Pronounced Ka-veh) - is an incredible Flamenco style
pop band. KAWEH is also the name of the talented guitarist who put together this
amazing group.
"In today's homogenized music landscape, it is rare to find a
group like Kaweh that blends the best of many different sounds and cultures.
Kaweh's combination of ideas and musicianship is both exciting and engaging."
- Geoff Roach, Executive Director, San Jose Jazz Society.
"The rich acoustic guitar, passionate rhythms, and international flair of
Kaweh's music reaches out to everyone, regardless of age or style preference."
- Mountain View Ala Carte & Art Festival.
Kaweh - Their music is exciting and soulful, and captivates their audiences,
worldwide. Kaweh's style has been compared to Ottmar Liebert, and the Gypsy
Kings - described as a fusion of Rumba Flamenca with Latin, Brazilian,
Mediterranean & Middle Eastern influences, it is often called WORLD MUSIC, but
it is much more than that - Kaweh's music has a pop feel that will make you want
to get up and dance!
Kaweh (pronounced Ka-veh) was born in Germany where he spent his early childhood
years. Having lived in Europe, he was introduced to many types of music in
various languages from all over the world. He spent 4 years living in the Middle
East, immersing himself in the local culture, hence the Middle Eastern influence
in his music.
Kaweh moved to the US as a teenager, and took up guitar. Within months he was
composing his first songs. In 1993, he formed a band and within 3 months was
opening the show for major musical acts and garnering rave reviews!
In 1998, Kaweh earned his degree in recording arts from Full Sail, and began
recording his first album. The success of that album drew some of the finest
international musicians into the band.
Kaweh's rich diverse sound, comes from a mixture of cultures within the group.
Latin Jazz, Rumba Flamenca, Brazilian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern are just
a few styles one may notice when listening to Kaweh. With the addition of vocals
in English, Farsi, Spanish and Italian, Kaweh sets a higher standard in the
fusion of styles weve come to call "World Music".
Kaweh performs internationally at various festivals, private events, corporate
functions, and weddings. The band is available in configurations of duo,
quartet, and sextet. The full group consists of six pieces, with Latin
drummer/percussionist Louie Flores Jr., keyboardist Alex Specht, Cuban
guitarist/vocalist Kenia Rodriguez, Latin congero Joe Ruelas, bassist Mark Kraft
and guitarist/vocalist/composer Kaweh.
