Call Grabow & Associates about production, entertainment, and New wave pop-rock powerhouse the Knack was formed in Los Angeles in 1978. Consisting of vocalist Doug Fieger, guitarist Bertron Averre, drummer Bruce Gary and bassist Prescott Niles, the Knack became the new kids on the alternative music block selling more than five million copies of their 1979 debut album, Get the Knack. The album was recorded in just 11 days and cost under $20,000 to produce. It went platinum due in large part to the success of the single "My Sharona", which sold more than five million copies. Expectations were high as the Knack began recording their second album, ...But the Little Girls Understand. The album proved a disappointment to both fans and critics and marked the beginning of the end for the Knack. Despite the fact that their third and final release, 1981's Round Trip, received favorable reviews, the band decided to break up. In 1994 "My Sharona" was recycled for the Reality Bites soundtrack, prompting the members of the Knack to reunite for a short time.
