The Philosopher Kings for coporate entertainment. Formed in Toronto, Canada, in 1990, the Philosopher Kings combine instrumental maturity with romantic lyrics to arrive at their sophisticated, well-rounded sound. Emphasizing their love of soul and pop, and at times, crossing over into jazz, R&B, rock and fusion territories, the PKs -- Gerald Eaton, James McCollum, Brian West, Jon Levine, Jay Levine, and Denton Whited -- scored big points on Canadian radio charts when they released their self-titled debut in 1994. Philosopher Kings reached gold status and earned the sextet two Juno Awards for Best New Group and Best R&B/Soul Album. Their second album, Famous, Rich and Beautiful, appeared in 1997.
