Roger Creager, poet, musician, accountant, and self-proclaimed bad boy, is a rising Star in the Texas night sky. Creager, a native of Corpus Christi, comes from a traditional middle-class background and worked successfully as an accountant before taking the stage for good, as a talented singer and entrepreneur. He did what virtually every performer's parents tell them to do: have something to fall back on. But, Creager won't need to fall back on anything because he has the muse and the self-confidence to bring it to the fore. In 1997, Creager was crunching numbers in Houston and taking part of corporate America. Then, he quit. After playing music for years, learning and listening, he decided that his road lead elsewhere. He didn't go to Nashville, however, but stayed to participate in the Texas Music Revolution, joining the ranks of such performers as Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green and Lyle Lovett. So, Creager packed up his guitar and dreams and headed back for College Station where he played local bars and wrote songs. College students usually look for value for the dollar (the pitcher of beer, for example) and they found a good way to spend money buying tickets for Creager concerts. Becoming more and more popular, Roger Creager sang the anthem for a lost generation of the 90's, "Everclear." Certainly highly requested, the song does not represent the depth and delicacy of Creager's musical imagery. He likens his writing to Shakespeare, in the sense that he (as did the Bard) writes for a diverse audience made up of many layers of culture and society. "I've Got the Guns," written about guns left him by his Grandfather shows his use of autobiographical material. He shines as a songwriter. Today, 30 year-old Roger Creager is a true leader among Texas singer/songwriters and continues to grow and learn. He sells out venues all over the state and his popularity is growing outside of Texas. Having sold tens of thousands of records, owning a publishing company, and fomenting the music of revolution, Roger Creager is one of the ones of whom you will say, "Yeah, I saw him when he first started and I knew he'd be a star!"
