Call Grabow & Associates about production, speaker and entertainment needs. Success in the entertainment world has many measures. They throw parties in your honor and feature you on television shows. They give you awards and gold records and applause. As one of country music's finest bands, Shenandoah has been blessed with all of these things. But these boys also have the qualities that are the ultimate measure of greatness--consistency, musical integrity and universal admiration from their peers. For a solid decade Shenandoah has helped define the contemporary country sound. Others have come and gone, but this band endures. To date, there have been 24 charted singles, 15 Top 10 hits and 11 #1 records. And unlike most acts, Shenandoah seems to find equal favor with light-hearted toe tappers and soulful, meditative ballads. Lead vocalist Marty Raybon is the envy of the industry for the heartfelt conviction he brings to everything the band attempts. Shenandoah was introduced to the country music world at the influential Country Radio Seminar of 1988. Backstage at the New Faces Show, Marty and his pals were swapping bluegrass tunes with The Desert Rose Band , seeming as carefree a group of country boys as you'd ever hope to see. But their light-hearted attitude was all facade. For there were cares a-plenty for the band back in those days. The real magic was awaiting this group at Capitol Records, with whom they signed in 1994. Their first release for the label, "Somewhere In The Vicinity Of The Heart ", a plaintive duet with Alison Krauss, became one of the biggest songs of 1995, and gave the young bluegrass singer her first country chart success. The song became an award-winning phenomenon and began a new chapter in the Shenandoah saga. The song won a Country Music Award, marking a turning point for Shenandoah . Stan Thorn left to pursue his interest in jazz in 1995. The others pooled their talents to come up with the new sounds on Now And Then . Shortly after recording Now And Then , Ralph Ezell chose to leave the band to pursue a career as a studio musician.
