When Sherrie Austin was growing up, she had a dream of singing country music. It was far-fetched - even for a girl who would win talent shows and open for legends like Johnny Cash when they would tour her Australian homeland. Yet Sherrie Austin was never afraid to dream big, and her family was never afraid of those dreams, either. "I moved to Nashville for more than just writing songs - I came to Nashville to do it on my own and find my place in the world! Looking back, it was a crazy thing to do with just a suitcase, a guitar and enough money to last two months...but I got a publishing deal as the money ran out. I needed to go somewhere to nurse my broken heart and write, and that was the sign I needed to know I'd done the right thing." Recent television appearances for Austin include "Entertainment Tonight" (world premiered "Never Been Kissed" video), the ACM Awards (CBS-TV), "Crook & Chase" (TNN), and "Prime Time Country from Las Vegas" (TNN) and the TV Guide Channel. She was also a presenter on the "TNN/Music City News Awards" on June 14th, among her many 1999 Fan Fair activities in Nashville. CMT honored her as "Female Rising Video Star of the Year" for 1997. For two consecutive years, she has been nominated for "Best New Artist Clip" at the "Billboard Music Video Awards" -- for "Lucky In Love" in 1997 and "Put Your Heart Into It" in 1998. Austin's debut disc Words on Arista/Nashville yielded the singles "Lucky In Love," "One Solitary Tear" and "Put Your Heart Into It" -- all of which she co-wrote. A smash at country dance clubs nationwide, her "Put Your Heart Into It" single reached #1 on Nightclub & Bar Magazine's "Dance Kings Country" chart and #3 on CCE's "Hottest Country Dance Tracks" chart. Additional Sherrie Austin media exposure has included the 1997 and 1998 "CMA Awards," CNN's "Showbiz Today," 1998's "TNN/Music City News Awards" and "United Cerebral Palsy Telethon." She has been featured in such magazines as YM, Esquire, Elle, Maxim, Park `N View's Connect.
