Steven Paul McCollum - Singer/Songwriter, Steven Paul
McCollum was born and raised in Kansas City. As a young boy he was drawn in by
country music. He remembers many road trips, listening and singing along with
his Dad to old tapes of Marty Robbins and Roger Miller. He began playing guitar
as a teenager, and at the young age of 17 he began a career as a solo act
entertaining in restaurants and clubs. H e went on to become a First Place
Winner in the "Marlboro Country Music Contest". He also coordinated and become
the lead singer in the country band called "The Timberland Band". The band
became a winner of the "61 Country-WDAF Radio Country Music Contest". From there
h is career took him to Nashville, Tennessee where he performed both in the band
and as a solo act at many venues around town, including the "Opryland Hotel". In
the past year he has been on tour, performing in the fair circuit throughout
Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas.
His songwriting has become more and more accomplished after being taken under
the wings of his dad's cousin, "John E. (Pap) McCollum" (writer of songs cut by
John Michael Montgomery, Toby Keith, etc.), and he has finally honed in on his
own unique style. Over the last year with the help of John he finished writing
all the songs for his new CD. The project was recently produced by Kent Wells
and recorded at "2 Monkeys Productions". It was then mixed by "Kevin Beamish"
and mastered by Benny Quinn at "Masterfonics".
