Doc Severinsen is one of today's most dynamic instrumentalists And certainly the most dazzling. Doc travels the country performing with symphonic orchestras, jazz and big band concerts, making recordings and commercials, plus designing and manufacturing trumpets. During the 1997-98 season alone, Doc conducted and performed at over seventy concerts in forty cities from Bakersfield to Biloxi to Buffalo and will travel well over 200,000 miles to reach "a-leave-them-wanting-more" audience in twenty states. Well known to television audiences as the flamboyant Grammy Award-winning Music Director of "The Tonight Show", today Doc has established an inventive multi-dimensional career. He performs concerts in an array of musical styles and joins classical and pop music groups, as well as a becoming a guest conductor/performer with scores of symphony orchestras. Doc is Principal Pops Conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Phoenix Symphony. Doc plays sizzling jazz and big band tunes with the acclaimed former "Tonight Show" Band, now known as Doc Severinsen and his Big Band. This season, Doc and his Band will tour the Great American South beginning in Dallas and musically marching through Texas. Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Then, in April '98, Doc continued his tour with a trip to fourteen cities in the Northeast. Doc Severinsen and His Big Band is composed of the foremost "Tonight Show" musicians---Ed Shaughnessy on drums, Snooky Young and Conte Candoli on trumpets. His tours are consistently sold out. Doc has recorded more than 30 albums: from big band to jazz fusion to classical. His most recent from Amherst, The Very Best of Doc Severinsen reprises 15 of Doc's hit signature pieces. His other recent recordings include Unforgettably Doc with the Cincinnati Pops on the Telarc label and the Grammy nominated Once More With Feeling on the Amherst label.
