Aussie country icon Keith Urban is the latest name on the bill of the New York leg of Al Gore's Live Earth gig on July 7.
Nicole Kidman's hubby joins chart-toppers Fall Out Boy, former American Idol Kelly Clarkson, rock legends Bon Jovi, Roger Waters and The Police, rappers Ludacris and Kanye West, plus KT Tunstall, Alicia Keys, John Mayer and many more in an all-star line-up.
MTV People's Choice award-nominees Taking Back Sunday have also been added to the bill. The band are known for their commitment to sustainable touring, which includes tree planting and carbon offsetting programs and messaging campaigns to its fans on ways they can fight global warming.
Lead guitarist, Fred Mascherino, said in a press release: “We all have our own beliefs, but I really feel that the issue of Global Warming is not a political issue up for debate. It’s strictly a case of our survival in the near future, and it is proven scientific fact .The truth is that the more we know the more hope we all have.”
Live Earth gigs are set to take place in New York, London, Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg and Hamburg, all on the same day. Sydney's leg, at Aussie Stadium, will be the first to commence.
Tickets are on sale for $99 and the line-up, which has already been announced, includes Kevin Wall Missy Higgins, Jack Johnson, Wolfmother, The John Butler Trio, Paul Kelly and Toni Collette andThe Finish.
