As he did in 1964 with the first version of The Mamas and The Papas, Papa John Phillips has handpicked all four members of the current group, Chrissy Faith, Janelle Sadler, David Baker and Mark Williamson. Under his careful artistic direction, the current group performs all of Papa John's classics -- like "Monday Monday", "Go Where You Want To Go", "I Saw Her Again Last Night", and of course "California Dreamin". He makes sure they remain true to the original intricate instrumental and extaordinary vocal arrangements that Phillips composed. Unlike the music of many other 60's artists, Phillips' songs are timeless classics. They resonate in the hearts of people of all generations. Especially interesting is their continued popularity with young people throughout the world. This is further proof that the dreams of a better world, of personal freedom and the display of pure, simple exuberance are as vital now as they were in the sixties. Throughout the years, The Mamas and The Papas have insisted on representing an idea, a sound, a way of life. They still refuse to depend on a screaming lead singer, a hair style, or a killer guitar player to draw attention to themselves. Also, John wrote and arranged so many great songs, that The Mamas and The Papas never need to fill their time on stage by resorting to medleys of songs by other artists to fill their hour on stage or to please audiences. As we start the third millennium, The New Mamas and Papas carry on the tradition which John started. With Papa John Phillip's poetry, music, and remarkable harmonic sound, they still keep alive the dreams and hopes of all generations. At any Mamas and Papas concert anywhere on the planet, look at the audience: you'll see at least three generations watching, listening and singing along. With regard to The New Mamas and Papas today, John explains, "When the harmonies really start to work, we get a special tone like a fifth voice. We've nicknamed it `Harvey'. All I can tell you about the music is that `Harvey' is showing up a lot these days!"
