Michael R. Losey, SPHR, CAE, is the Past-President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Before being named to the Society's top position in 1990, Mr. Losey served 30 years in management and executive-level positions with two Fortune 50 organizations. Michael Losey has been active in international human resources and is the immediate past-president of the North American Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA), as well as immediate past-president of the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA). These two organizations link human resource professional organizations around the world. Mr. Losey has also served on the SHRM Board of Directors and boards of the Human Resource Certification Institute, the SHRM Foundation, and the National Academy of Human Resources, which he helped established and where he is currently a fellow. Mr. Losey serves as an executive consultant or board representative to Heritage Partners, DeakinPrime, Jackson Lewis, Vault.com, Holmes Corporation, SCANS 2000 Center at Johns Hopkins University , and the Discovery Institute Center for the 21st Century Workforce. He is the Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Board of HR One, Inc. He also serves as Chair of the Employers' Advisory Committee of the U.S. Department of Labor's Project Employ. He is Chair of the U.S. Treasury Department Savings Bond program for professional and trade associations. Mr. Losey holds both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's of Business Administration degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Michigan . In addition, he earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Certified Association Executive (CAE). Michael Losey has spoken to over 300 groups in more than 40 states plus Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and other countries. He has frequently addressed HR, general management and trade association leadership on human resource and leadership issues. He also continues to contribute to the professional programming of SHRM as well as being a spokesman to numerous international groups, organizations, media, and Congress. With Dr. David Ulrich and Dr. Gerry Lake of the University of Michigan , Mr. Losey wrote and edited the book Tomorrow's HR Management.
