One of the very best players in the NFL, Strahan has also established himself as one of the finest defensive players in Giants history...Set an NFL single-season record with 22.5 sacks in 2001, boosting his career total to 84.5, second in Giants history behind Lawrence Taylor's 132.5...Enters the 2002 season fifth among active players in career sacks, trailing only Bruce Smith (126.0), John Randle (125.0), Trace Armstrong (99.0) and Robert Porcher (85.5)...Was selected to his fourth Pro Bowl last season, the most by a Giants defensive lineman since Andy Rubustelli was chosen for five from 1956-62...Although he receives much acclaim for his sacks, Strahan is also an outstanding all-around player, one that consistently helps the defense stop opposing running games and puts constant pressure on the quarterback when he's not registering a sack...Has missed only 1 game in the previous 6 seasons and 3 in the previous 8...Moved into the starting lineup in his second NFL season in 1994 after missing 7 games as a rookie due to a foot injury...Named Giants 1998 Most Valuable Player and 1997 Defensive Player of the Year...He is one of the most visible and popular Giants, a player the television networks constantly seek out for interviews. Also took a turn on Fox's pregame show in last year's playoffs...Strahan is also extremely generous with his time, donating hours and goodwill to numerous charities in the metropolitan area.
