 Phil Simms, Super Bowl XXI MVP
and a 15-year NFL veteran, joined CBS Sports in January,
1998 as lead analyst for coverage of the NFL on CBS.
Phil Simms and Greg Gumbel are paired as the network's
lead NFL announce team. Phil Simms had served as a game
analyst on NBC's top broadcast team, along with Dick
Enberg and Paul Maguire, since 1995. He also called
Super Bowl XXX. In addition, he announced weight lifting
events for NBC Sports' coverage of the 1996 Summer
Olympics in Atlanta . He also has served as a sideline
reporter on the NBA on NBC and has worked on the NFL
Quarterback Challenge and Run to Daylight. Simms also
served as a studio analyst for ESPN.
Phil Simms, a former All-Pro
quarterback, led the New York Giants to two Super Bowl
titles. He completed 22 of 25 passes in Super Bowl XXI,
defeating the Denver Broncos 39-20, and giving the
Giants their first Super Bowl title. He established team
marks for most passes completed and attempted for one
game (40 completed, 62 attempted), season (286, 533) and
career (2576, 4647); career touchdown passes (199), and
most 300-yard games in a career (21).
Phil Simms was the Giants' first
selection in the 1979 NFL Draft, was selected to the
1985 and 1993 Pro Bowls and was the 1985 Pro Bowl MVP.
He was named All-Pro in 1986. Simms will host a weekly
pre-game show called JETS KICKOFF WITH BILL PARCELLS on
New York affiliate WCBS-TV prior to the Network's NFL
coverage. Simms was graduated from Morehead State
University in 1979. He and his family live in New Jersey
. In his speeches Mr. Simms will speak on Winning in the
NFL and Winning in Life. Phil Simms delivers a strong
message filled with expertise and humor as seen on his
TV appearances. He is extremely personable, mingles well
with clients, and will sign for the participants, as
well as MC.
