SuChin Pak joined the MTV News Team as a correspondent in May of 2001. Over the years, MTV has become more than entertainment; it’s a cultural icon. The cable network has grown to become a multi-media powerhouse, an omnipresent shaper of youth culture that hatches, nurtures, and develops trends not only in music, but in reality-based television programming, fashion and consumer markets. Some stories from the field for Choose or Lose include: live reports from Bush headquarters in Washington D.C. on election night, youth voting patterns in swing states, protests on affirmative action, reproductive rights, the environment and live coverage from the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Born in Korea, Pak and her family moved to the Bay Area when she was five years old.
Pak produced the documentary series MY LIFE TRANSLATED, which deals with young people who live in two cultures and how that affects the decisions they make, the lives they lead, and the consequences they face. It's not just a show about geographical or racial cultures, it's about youth culture, and every single young person who struggles with the culture of their parents and their own identity.
