Terry Savage is a nationally known expert on personal finance and a regular television commentator on CNN, PBS, and NBC on issues related to investing and financial markets. She is the Chicago Sun-Times personal finance columnist, and author of three best-selling books. Her most recent book, The Savage Truth on Money, was named one of the ten best money books of the year by Amazon.com, and was made into an hour-long television special that aired on PBS. You've seen Savage on programs ranging from CNN Morning News with Paula Zahn, to Oprah, to the News Hour with Jim Lehrer, responding to money questions from audiences and anchors. She's a regular commentator on PBS' Nightly Business Report, and she's also a frequent substitute host of the nationally syndicated Bob Brinker radio show. Savage 's expertise comes from experience. She started her career as a stockbroker, and was a founding member, and the first woman trader, on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. She was also a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's International Monetary Market trading currency and interest rate futures. Savage knows the markets inside out. She is also a respected insider in corporate America, serving on the Board of Directors of McDonald's Corporation and Pennzoil Quaker State Company. She previously served on the board of Devon Energy and The Broadway Stores. Savage is frequently asked to comment on corporate governance issues and appear at governance seminars. And in 1994 she was a recipient of the "Director's Choice Award" honoring selected women who serve on America's top corporate boards. She has won numerous awards, including the National Press Club award for Outstanding Consumer Journalism, and the Outstanding Personal Finance Columnist award given by the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She also won an Emmy for an hour-long TV special: "Money--It Doesn't Grow on Trees!" Savage is a director of the Executive's Club of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial (Hospital) Foundation, Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, and Junior Achievement of Illinois.
