Bobby Valentine was born on Saturday, May 13, 1950, in Stamford, Connecticut. Bobby
Valentine was 19 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 2, 1969, with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He is now currently coaching the New York Mets here in America, but Bobby Valentine remains close to Japanese baseball. Valentine coached the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Japanese league to a second place finish in his one year as their coach.
He took a consistent cellar-dweller and nearly won the division, yet he was unceremoniously let go soon after. Valentine has interesting views on the state of Japanese baseball, the network of former players who run it, and the grand future he sees for it.
