In the final race of the 2004 season Ricky Rudd, driver of the #21 Motorcraft Ford Taurus added another top-ten finish to his personal record, bringing it to a total of 364. Ricky’s ninth place finish brought the Wood Brothers Racing top-ten finish number to 490.
Ricky Rudd joined Wood Brothers Racing at the end of the 2002 season. One of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers, Rudd became the 18th from that list to race for the legendary Stuart, Virginia team.
The Motorcraft driver started his racing career in go-karts at age nine and ran motocross throughout his teen years. The first time Ricky drove a stock car was at Rockingham, NC during practice for the spring race in 1975. He not only made the race, but finished 11th. In 1977, he ran 25 races, landing one top-five and ten top-tens. He finished 17th in points and was named Winston Cup Rookie of the Year.
