Flash Cadillac - We love Rock and Roll music, and though we can't tell you what it is in one sentence; we know what it's not. Or ... we're Flash Cadillac, and Rock and Roll is whatever we say it is. We've been lucky enough to be involved with some things that are Rock and Roll, such as American Graffiti and American Bandstand.
We didn't invent Rock and Roll and we weren't even a band when it started. But we feel that with the time, energy and fun we've put into the music, we are a part of it. Most people probably know us from the 70's, mainly from American Graffiti, Apocalypse Now, Happy Days, and lots and lots of live dates. We were based in Los Angeles (although we were hardly ever there), working with major labels, touring endlessly, and very much in the public eye. But, recording was what we wanted to do and we felt we could do it much better away from LA. By the 80's, we were home in Colorado building and recording in our own studio.
Our output was better but no one was hearing it. We were on the radio, however, doing the program music for Mike Harvey and Supergold since 1983. It's on live every Saturday night on hundreds of radio stations across the country. Instead of the colleges, concerts and clubs of the 70's, our live show of the 80's became a mix of corporate and radio events. In the 90's we're reaching and creating a brand new audience playing with symphony orchestras. With each new orchestra we become the world's largest rock and roll band for a night. If you ever have the chance to see our Symphony Pops show, please come. It's special!
The 25 year re-release of American Graffiti became available last fall. Wonderful movie. Proud to have a finger in it. We're the guys playing at the dance in the red sport coats. A very calm and young version of the band. We were supposed to be a local band and hold ourselves back from our regular crazed presence. Wish we could have gone wild. Also watch for perpetual re-runs of our Happy Days episode "Johnny Fish and the Fins," where the band comes to play in Milwaukee and winds up staying at the Cunninghams. In concert, at the end of the show, we play "Youngblood."
