Gil de Ferran’s name is synonymous with winning, coming off back-to-back World Championships in the 2000 and 2001 CART racing series, this is not the only time Gil has had brushes with success. Throughout his racing career Gil de Ferran has pursued championships in various racing classes. He has succeeded at all levels by obtaining a 100cc Brazilian Class A go-karting championship in 1984, a Brazilian Formula Ford title in 1987, a British Formula 3 Series title in 1992, CART Rookie of the Year honors in 1995, and was the 2000 and 2001 Champcar champion and the winner of the 2003 Indianapolis 500.

In his first season racing for Team Penske, he helped Roger Penske obtain his 100th career racing victory and first team championship in 5 years. Along the way, Gil made his way into the world record book by setting the World Closed Course Speed Record of 241.428 mph during a qualifying run. When not on four wheels, Gil cherishes time spent with his wife Angela, daughter Anna, and son Luke on their boat near home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Despite his Brazilian heritage, the years he has spent in Europe and the U.S. have helped him to become an eloquent speaker, well known for his analytical, thoughtful and genuine words on various worldly subjects, including how to become and remain a champion.
