Nancy Sinatra

A pop/rock performer, who is the daughter of the legendary Frank Sinatra, enjoyed a run of superstardom between 1966 and 1968 where she recorded for Frank's label, Reprise. After a struggling beginning, her career blossomed when she hooked up with producer Lee Hazelwood and arranger Billy Strange. They urged her to lower her voice and craft stronger bass lines and "go-go" tempos. One of their first efforts, the 1966 single "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," topped the charts. This was the forerunner in a series of hits which included "Sugar Town," "Lightning's Girl," "Love Eyes," and her chart topping duet with her father, "Somethin' Stupid." Her best singles capture the lightweight period charm of the Top 40 at the time. Nancy's singles were noted for their distinctive arrangements by Lee Hazlewood, who wrote most of her hits, as well as her own sex-kitten vocals. They specialized in oddly disquieting songs with a sort of modern Western theme. A reissue series of all her original albums are under way, and a greatest hits album is currently out.
