His hilarious approach to self-motivation is a result of transforming himself from a miserable pet shop manager to a six-time Emmy Award-winning comedian and writer. He has hosted several network talk and game shows, including The Late Show on Fox, ABC’s Days End and The New Match Game, and NBC’s Almost Live. Shafer's latest achievement is his newest book due out May 2005, The Customer Shouts Back: If You Want Lifetime Customers, Listen To Their Emotional Solution, which is the culmination of his eleven years as a writer/producer of human resource training films.

Through hard work and humor, Shafer has achieved national recognition and success as a television personality, comedian, and author. His first big break came when he won the 1983 Showtime Comedy Laugh Off. Within a year he was the host of KING TV’s Almost Live with Ross Shafer, out of Seattle. In the ensuing four year span Almost Live collected nearly 40 Emmy Awards; six going to Shafer for his work as host, actor, and writer. The show was also awarded with the prestigious IRIS award for the “Best Entertainment Series” in the United States. Shafer then spent time hosting a daily four-hour afternoon drive radio program on KJR-AM, contributing to Dick Clark’s TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes, and hosting the game show Love Me Love Me Not for the USA Network.

He moved on to become the host of FOX TV’s flagship late night program, The Late Show. Throughout all his different endeavors Shafer continued to work on his stand up comedy act. He regularly took his performance to Evening At The Improv, The ‘A’ List, Caroline’s Comedy Hour, Comic Strip Live, and a cavalcade of others. With all of his success he is most proud of his two books titled: Nobody Moved Your Cheese! - (How to Ignore the Experts and Trust Your Own Gut), and his best selling cookbook Cook Like a Stud - (38 Recipes Men Can Prepare in the Garage…Using Their Own Tools!). For the past 15 years, Shafer has made more than 3,000 meeting planners look like heroes. He's clean, funny, relevant, and always in good taste. With a passion for resurrecting customer service, Shafer has written and produced 14 funny human resource training films on customer service, sales, and motivation.

He is very active in the corporate marketplace, having entertained and given seminars for Fortune 500 companies worldwide.
