Sandra Bernhard

With her new critically acclaimed one-woman show, "I'm Still Here...Damn It!" Sandra marks her successful return to Off-Broadway, where her previous stage hit Without You I'm Nothing ran for six months in 1988. Of this show at NYC's Westbeth Theatre, The New Yorker noted: "A mean little cocktail from Sandra Bernhard, composed of equal parts stand-up, performance art, cabaret, world-weariness, and dish. The New York Times may have summed it up best: "Her irresistible new show I'm Still Here...Damn It! is an angst-driven, foulmouthed, poison-laced joy ride that banks and careers frenetically through the worlds of fashion, celebrity, rock and religion...In her own voice, unfiltered, she is a living breathing bonfire." As an actress, Sandra has received accolades for her performance the fanatical fan "Marsha" opposite Robert DeNiro and Jerry Lewis in Martin Scorsese King of Comedy, for which she won the title of Best Supporting Actress by the National Society of Film Critics. She has also appeared in Ken Kwapis' Follow That Bird and Nicholas Roeg's controversial Track 29 alongside Theresa Russell and Gary Oldman. In addition, Sandra was described in USA Today as being "good at being bad" for her scene-stealing role in the Joel Silver-directed Bruce Willis vehicle 1991 film Hudson Hawke, and in 1996 was seen in the Isaac Mizrahi documentary Unzipped. Sandra has also made numerous television appearances including the aforementioned "Nancy" on "Roseanne," as well asstints on "Ally McBeal" and "Chicago Hope," among others. She has also appeared on "The Larry Sanders Show" and "Tales From the Crypt," among others. Sandra is also an accomplished writer, having penned her debut novel Confessions Of A Pretty Lady (Harper & Row), published in 1987. Sandra has also written articles for such magazines as Vanity Fair, Allure, People, US, Interview, Rolling Stone, New York Woman, Elle, Spin, and Spy, among others. And, as a humorist/singer, beyond those recordings mentioned above, Sandra released her debut album I'm Your Woman (on Polygram Records), as well as recorded the track "Beer, Gas, Ride, Forever" with former X frontman John Doe (released on Rhino Records). Where will she go from here? Stay tuned...
