Verne Lundquist took over the play-by-play duties for TNT's coverage of the NFL prior to the 1995 season, teaming with former CBS partner Pat Haden. They were joined by Mark May in the NFL booth for the 1997 season. Lundquist joined Turner Sports as a play-by-play announcer prior to the 1994 NBA playoffs. During the 1996-97 season, he was partnered with Doc Rivers on TNT's Tuesday night regular-season games and playoff games. He has been paired with Chuck Daly (1994-95) and Danny Ainge (1995-96). He also serves as play-by-play announcer for TNT's NFL coverage and TBS Superstation's figure skating events. He is the figure skating voice for Turner Sports, having called the Centennial on Ice and Discover Stars on Ice with partner Peter Carruthers. The voice of the Dallas Cowboys from 1972-84, he joined CBS Sports in 1982 and continues to call selected figure skating shows for the network. He has called every figure skating competition on CBS since 1989, including the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics with partner Scott Hamilton. In his tenure at CBS, Lundquist was a leading play-by-play announcer for NFL games; pro and college basketball, including the NCAA men's tournament; and professional golf, including The Masters. Lundquist, who spent eight years at ABC prior to moving to CBS, won seven consecutive Texas Sportscaster of the Year awards from 1977-83.
